Alpha Merit Scholars and Pretty in Pink will hosting an exciting College Tour on Friday, November 14, 2025, in partnership with UNT Dallas, and the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). This experience is designed to expose our students to college life, academic programs, and campus culture and helping them envision their future beyond high school.
Please review the important logistics and participation details below to ensure your student is prepared for the day.
Event Details & Itinerary
Date: Friday, November 14, 2025
Pick-Up Location: DeSoto High School
Dress Code: School-appropriate attire and comfortable walking shoes (no crop tops, slides, or ripped jeans).
Meals: Lunch will be provided on campus during the UTA visit. Students are encouraged to bring snacks and a refillable water bottle.
Full Schedule:
• 8:00 AM – Pick-Up from DeSoto High School
• 8:30 AM – Arrive at UNT Dallas for campus tour
• 11:00 AM – Depart UNT Dallas
• 11:30 AM – 2:30 PM – UTA College Visit & Lunch on Campus
• 2:30 PM – Depart UTA
• 3:00 PM – Return to DeSoto High School for parent pick-up
Transportation & Supervision
Transportation will be provided by charter bus. All students will be supervised by its organizations staff, chaperones, and/or representatives throughout the day. Attendance will be taken before departure, between each campus transition, and upon return. We are requesting $1000 from your organization to assist with the charter bus.
School Excused Absence Procedure
Because this is an official educational trip, students will receive an excused absence from school for the day. To ensure proper documentation, please follow the steps below:
1. Parent Permission Form: Make sure your student submits their signed parent permission form to their teacher or school coordinator no later than Wednesday, November 5, 2025.
2. Excused Absence Note: After the trip, The universities will provide a formal school excuse note for the student’s attendance record.
4. Student Responsibility: Students are encouraged to communicate with their teachers in advance regarding any missed assignments or tests scheduled for that day.
Special Announcement – Videographer on Site
We are requesting if you can provide a videographer or media representative to accompany the group and capture highlights, interviews, and footage throughout the day.
This content will be used to showcase student engagement, celebrate partnerships, and promote future college and career initiatives through our organizations communication channels.
What to request the students to bring:
• Refillable water bottle and light snacks
• Notebook or phone for taking notes
• Comfortable walking shoes
• Positive attitude and questions for college staff!
